Building Oregon is a mobile website developed by Oregon State University Libraries. Its content is a subset of Building Oregon: Architecture of Oregon and the Pacific Northwest, a digital collection managed by the University of Oregon.
In developing the content of Building Oregon, the University of Oregon has digitized thousands of gift slides which document the architectural heritage of the Pacific Northwest with an emphasis on Oregon. Historic images from public domain publications as well as more recent born digital photographs have also been included. As a result of continuing collaboration with the Oregon State Historic Preservation Office, many items in the collection represent works listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Building Oregon is one of many collections included in Oregon Digital, a larger collaboration between Oregon State University and the University of Oregon which provides access to thousands of digital works covering a variety of topics.
Support for developing the Building Oregon collection has come from the estate of Jean Gillett, the Marion Dean Ross Chapter of the Society of Architectural Historians, and the Architecture Foundation of Oregon. The mobile project was funded in part by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library Services and by Technology Act, administered by the Oregon State Library.
